NEW ARTICLE: Full Qubit Control of the Double Quantum Transition in NV Centers for Low-Field or High-Frequency Sensing

16/05/2025

We introduce a protocol for fast arbitrary qubit gates in the ground state of NV centers in diamond, using microwave pulses with fixed frequency and amplitude. The scheme is effective in two key regimes for quantum sensing: low magnetic fields, where the Zeeman splitting is smaller than the Rabi frequency, and high-frequency signals, comparable to that splitting. It builds on the NV-ERC method, enabling efficient control of the double quantum transition without leakage, via effective Raman coupling. We provide a full theoretical framework, identifying the unitaries and basis changes linked to specific pulse durations. The protocol is robust against pulse timing errors and remains effective even in the presence of unknown electric or strain fields. We confirm its performance through numerical simulations of Hahn echo sequences.
